This linocut honours the mysterious phenomenon of big cat sightings in the British countryside. For decades now people have been regularly reporting encounters with big cats in Britain, and for believers and non-believers it’s become a fascinating part of this island’s folk culture. From the Beast of Bodmin to the Surrey Puma, there are hundreds of sightings every year. Most seem to describe a panther (or black leopard) with a large minority describing pumas, and a small number of people seeing what they believe are lynx.

Who are these elusive creatures and how did they get here? And most importantly, have you seen this creature?

I’ve hand printed each image, so there will be some natural variation from print to print.

Lino is a traditional printing surface, made using natural materials: wood flour and linseed oil.

The ink is made in Britain from high quality pigment and vegetable oil.

The image is approximately 60mm x 40mm, and the paper is approximately 72mm x 54mm.
